Chase has formed a new partnership to allow Samsung smartphone users to leverage its mobile payment app, Chase Pay, for purchases across the US.
Chase cardholders will now be able to link Chase Pay to Samsung Pay, which utilises magnetic secure transmission (MST) technology and near-field communication (NFC) to enable tap-and-pay transactions.
Users making purchases through the linked app will be able to earn Samsung Rewards as well as Chase Ultimate Rewards points, on eligible cards.
The earned rewards can be redeemed at checkout using the Chase Pay’s ‘pay with points’ feature.
Samsung Pay vice-president and general manager Sang Ahn said: “Our vision for Samsung Pay is to create the most rewarding mobile shopping experience, whether consumers checkout at a physical merchant or find great deals within the Samsung Pay app.
“We’re thrilled to bring Samsung Pay’s unique technology for the benefit of both Chase and Samsung’s customers by offering consumers more choices and better mobile payment experiences.”
