American Express, Visa, Mastercard and Discover have rolled out click to pay, an interoperable one-click online checkout service at certain merchants in the US.
Click to pay is intended to allow easy card payments across websites, apps and connected devices. The companies tested the EMV Secure Remote Commerce (SRC)-based service with issuers and merchants.
The service is currently available via payment processors and platforms, including CyberSource – Visa solutions, Adyen, Mastercard Payment Gateway Services, Authorize.Net, Stripe, FIS and Global Payments.
Initially, existing Masterpass and Visa Checkout merchants will switch to the new service.
Cinemark, Movember and Rakuten are currently offering click to pay on their websites.
Additional retailers Papa John’s, BassPro, Saks Fifth Avenue, JoAnn Fabric and Crafts, SHOP.com, Staples and Tickets.com will adopt the service by the end of this year.

By GlobalDataThe companies are seeking a broader roll-out early next year.
In a statement, Mastercard said: “As the prevalence of ecommerce has grown, click to pay now helps to address an increasing need for a consistent, simple user experience and stronger protection of payment information across all types of digital channels and cards.”
The companies expect the new service to offer simple and secure digital payments.
The service is also intended to cut down shopping cart abandonment rates and provide various card brands for digital checkout on one platform.
