US-based self-service coin counting provider Coinstar has joined forces with doxo, a web and mobile bill payment solution, to offer a cash bill pay service at its kiosks in high-traffic retail locations.
Through the new service, users can make bill payments for utilities, phone, cable and car insurance using cash at up to 7,000 Coinstar kiosks by the end of 2018, selecting from doxo’s directory of over 45,000 billers.
Coinstar CEO Jim Gaherity said: “doxo’s extensive biller directory, combined with our national network of Coinstar kiosks, brings a new level of ease and accessibility for bill pay, and we’re excited to offer this capability to our customers.”
Users can also check their payments delivery status in real time and get a printed or emailed receipt after their payment is accepted.
doxo CEO and co-founder Steve Shivers said: “Cash is a vital bill payment option, especially for the 34 million unbanked or under-banked households in the country. Over six percent of bill payments totaling more than $235bn annually are made with cash.
“For billers, providing an easy way for their customers to pay with cash is not only a valuable service, but helps keep accounts current. Our partnership with Coinstar provides this opportunity with very little effort on the part of billers.”
