Qatari lender Commercial Bank has rolled out a mobile contactless payment wallet, which is said to be a first in the country.
Dubbed CB Wallet, the new offering will enable those with credit and debit cards to use their smartphones to make payments for purchases made in-store.
Commercial Bank EGM and head of Retail Banking Amit Sah said: “Our customers who have credit and debit cards can add their cards details to the wallet and enjoy a faster and more secure payment when using the wallet for payment both locally and internationally.”
At the same time, Commercial Bank customers can utilise the wallet for making online purchases.
Last year, the bank launched Contactless Cards, which along with the wallet are aimed at boosting digital payment adoption in the country.
The bank said that the wallet will lower operating costs and increase revenues for merchants while offering customers a quick payment experience.
