Payment gateway provider PayU has struck a deal with IRCTC, India’s largest platform for rail ticket bookings, to lend online payment services to users who book rail tickets via the IRCTC website.
Following the deal, PayU will now feature as a payment option under MPS (Multiple Payment Services) on the IRCTC portal at the payment stage of purchasing an e- ticket.
The alternate payment option will enable its users to make secure transaction via different payment options like internet banking, debit/credit card and e-wallet.
PayU enterprise business head Rahul Kothari said: “Our payment gateway operates around 80% of the e-commerce business in India today and this collaboration with IRCTC, which is the country’s largest platform for rail ticket bookings, adds another feather in our cap and is aligned with our vision to simplify the payment experience for the growing digital savvy consumers as well as the merchants.
“Undoubtedly, this is a very large and prestigious mandate for us. IRCTC’s biggest strength, .i.e., traffic, combined with the success rate of our payment gateway, which is the best in the industry today, is a great match and has a huge potential to enhance the digital transactions landscape and contribute towards making India a cashless/less cash economy.”
