French bank Crédit Agricole has expanded its mobile payment service Paylib to Visa cardholders to allow secure in-store purchases. So far the service was available only to Mastercard cardholders.

The Paylib service is built on fintech and software firm dejamobile’s host card emulation (HCE) solution called ReadyToTap Payment.

It can be used through Android smartphones’ near-field communication (NFC) function.

Crédit Agricole launched Paylib in April last year within its MaCarte App, which also facilitates payments on websites that accept the service.

Crédit Agricole Payment Services head of mobile payment services Luc Laffon said: “We use dejamobile’s mobile payment solution which is multi-scheme certified (CB, Mastercard, Visa) and which meets high standards of transaction security.

“Crédit Agricole Payment Services teams rely on the strong support from dejamobile’s technical teams to operate and maintain the service.

“Our mobile payment service is fully operational since April 2017 and the adoption rate by our customers meets our expectations.”

dejamobile originally introduced its HCE solution in the fourth quarter of 2015 and was tested during a pilot with Mastercard.

The solution was later adopted by Crédit Agricole and integrated into MaCarte and the bank’s internal payment service infrastructure.
