To be issued by Wirecard , the Ctrip multi-currency Visa cards will feature currencies from Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, the UK, US and the Eurozone.
The prepaid cards will be available for Ctrip customers who are Chinese citizens. Currently, Ctrip has 110 million active monthly users in the country.
Visa head of digital partnerships for Asia Pacific Hamish Moline said: “Multi-currency Visa cards give consumers a convenient, secure way to pay whenever they travel, with the added benefits of certainty of exchange rates and breadth of acceptance that Visa provides.”
According to the China National Tourism Administration, international trips by Chinese travellers will increase from approximately 131 million in 2017 to 200 million by 2020.
The new multi-currency Visa cards will improve travellers experience. They will eliminate the need to convert currency overseas and carry excessive cash.
