Discover Financial Services has expanded its alliance with Taiwan-based payment network National Credit Card Center of R.O.C. (NCCC) through a new strategic network agreement.
An existing acquiring alliance between the firms enables acceptance of Discover, Diners Club International and network affiliate cards on the NCCC network in Taiwan.
Under the new agreement, NCCC Global Cards will be accepted on the Discover Global Network in markets outside Taiwan.
In addition, the new agreement will enable Taiwanese banks to issue NCCC Global Cards. This will happen after their enrolment in the Global Card programme.
The banks can run the cards on their domestic network, with Discover being responsible for global acceptance.
NCCC chairman Teng Cheng Liu said: “Through the alliance with Discover, we have succeeded in fully connecting NCCC’s local network to Discover Global Network. This agreement has provided a solid foundation for cardholders in Taiwan, not just to obtain a card that suits their daily life, but also offers convenience for the cardholders when using the card abroad.”
