EBank Namibia has introduced two new debit cards, named EBank Easy and EBank Smart.

The new cards that are issued under a principal license from MasterCard will help clients gain access to millions of retailers and ATMs accepting MasterCard payment cards across the nation and worldwide in over 210 countries.

The Easy Debit Card can be used for card transactions only within Namibia, while being restricted from use of online payments or for transactions that call for reservation of funds. Holders of EBank Easy Account will be able to link only one EBank Easy Debit Card to their account.

The Smart debit card can be used for both international card transactions as well as online purchases. It will enable reservation of funds against an account, which makes it suitable for renting a vehicle or booking hotel accommodation. An EBank Smart Account holder has the option to link up to two cards to their account, either Easy or Smart debit cards or one of each.

After being linked and activated, EBank Easy card holders will have to pay NAD3.50 ($0.252) for every card transaction at any retailer throughout the nation, whereas EBank Smart card holders will be able to avail point of sale card purchases free of charge within Namibia.

Moreover, the debit cards comprise a unique ATM transaction pricing structure, where fees are not determined on the basis of the ATM used.

EBank Namibia COO Gerald Riedel said: "Both EBank debit cards can be used to withdraw cash from any ATM in Namibia with the cost per transaction varying from N$8.00 (for a withdrawal amount between N$10 and N$500) to N$20.00 (for a withdrawal amount between N$1,500 and N$2,000).

"This is considerably less than what some banks charge their own clients. The pricing for ATM withdrawals is affordable, transparent and exactly the same, regardless of the brand of ATM used in Namibia."
