POS and ATM clearing transactions via Equens’
WAY4 payment platform have sky rocketed in the past two years,
rising from 2m transactions per day to 11.8m to date.
Equens put the success of its payments
platform, which includes accounting transactions, fee calculations,
transaction validations and currency conversions, down to two
reasons: a wider merchant network, which it has been growing across
Europe, and SEPA.

Equens said that it has now got acquiring
contracts with “around half a million merchants across Europe”.
Equens now expects POS and ATM clearing
transactions to peak at 25m per day, although the company did not
specify when it aims to reach this target.
