African aviation group Ethiopian Airlines has partnered with CellPoint Mobile in a bid to increase payment options for the passengers.
The collaboration aims to enhance the reach and effectiveness of the airlines’ mobile sales channel as well as drive flight and ancillary revenue for the company.
The partnership will result in the addition of new alternative payment methods (APMs) to the carrier’s mobile app such as AliPay and WeChat Pay.
Under the collaboration, Ethiopian Airlines will utilise CellPoint Mobile’s Velocity payment platform.
Equipped with PCI DSS Level 1 certified card vault and advanced fraud monitoring, Velocity is a full merchant-side payment control suite enabling immediate access to multiple PSPs, acquirers as well as global consumer wallets and APMs.
Ethiopian Airlines digital director Miretab Teklaye said: “We want to make the mobile payment process as accessible and easy as possible for all our customers. We have made significant investments in technology to create a seamless user experience within our branded app.
“CellPoint Mobile gives us the flexibility we’ve been searching for to add the payment methods we need, quickly and easily, and to advise us as we continuously improve the profitability of our growing digital channel.”
