First Bank of Nigeria (FirstBank) has launched the new Naira MasterCard, a contactless debit card intended to improve ease and convenience of payments.
The new card can be used for fast and secure pin-less purchases by tapping on the point-of-sale (POS) machines having contactless capabilities.
Cardholders can also pay for transit via London transport network, including buses, tubes, trams, Dock and Light Railway (DLR) and the London Overground.
In addition, FirstBank Contactless Naira MasterCard enables payment as a contact card at standard POS.
The banks debit card portfolio further includes Verve Card that is powered by the Interswitch network and can be availed at any payment channel and bank branch linked to the network in Nigeria.
FirstBank’s Platinum MasterCard comes with travel benefits, rewards and high transaction limits. It can be used to pay for goods and services as well as to withdraw cash.
Its Visa Debit card is a dual currency card for Naira and US dollars, while the Expressions On Cards can be personalised to obtain a unique bank card.
All the debit cards are said to be accepted at both domestic and international locations, allow ATM withdrawal and access to value added services such as bills payment, flight and hotel bookings.
