Italian e-money institution Flowe has partnered with payment services provider SIA to deliver digital services across e-money, payments, current accounts, loans and savings management.
These digital services will be accessible through the Flowe App on a smartphone. The app enables users to activate a digital payment account, which is linked to the Flowe virtual debit card.
SIA will integrate its technology infrastructure with Flowe’s cloud service to manage the card’s complete life cycle.
The integrated solution can be used for issuing request, virtualisation, top-up of payment account, customisation, transaction processing, and to prevent and manage frauds and disputes.
Apart from offering access to payment services via smartphone, SIA will support Flowe in compliance with operation regulations.
Flowe CEO Ivan Mazzoleni said: “Flowe is a payment app that looks at the future and focuses on the younger generations, those who have lived digitally from birth and are resistant to the idea of using traditional credit institutions.

By GlobalData“We have gone beyond payment services alone and wanted to build a different and more evolved product which, to the features of simplicity and speed, would also add sustainability, an important aspect for new generations.”
The Flowe card facilitates transactions on e-commerce sites and in shops using a smartphone. Also, the card is available in a wood version.
SIA created the card in its specialised centre in Verona in alliance with Exceet. The card can be used for payment in standard and contactless mode, via the Mastercard circuit.
SIA CEO Nicola Cordone said: “The partnership with Flowe strengthens the collaboration with Mediolanum Group and confirms SIA’s ability to accompany the digital transformation of financial institutions, corporates and public sector organisations through the development of innovative services such as digital onboarding and e-commerce, thus increasingly encouraging the adoption of electronic payments with particular attention to the environmental aspects.”
Earlier this month, SIA collaborated with Italian e-ticketing solutions provider AEP to enable contactless card payments at transport terminals in Turin.
