Payments technology company Flutterwave has secured a payment system licence from the Bank of Zambia.
The licence enables Zambian businesses to accept payments from both local and international customers using their preferred methods, as well as process payouts to partners and employees.

It offers them access to Flutterwave’s diverse payment options, including a payment gateway that supports various methods such as cards and mobile money.
Zambian businesses can now utilise Flutterwave’s services to disburse payments in Zambian Kwacha to multiple recipients, including employees, suppliers, and business partners.
Flutterwave’s API solutions can be embedded into websites and applications, allowing for online payment processing through Flutterwave checkout, direct charge, and plugins compatible with platforms like WooCommerce and Shopify.
The company also offers a dashboard for businesses to monitor transactions, generate reports, and collaborate with team members.
For invoicing and payment collection, Flutterwave provides tools to create and share professional, trackable invoices, as well as generate single and recurring payment links that support over 50 currencies.
Flutterwave is compliant with PA-DSS & PCI-DSS and hold ISO 27001 & 22301 certifications, the company highlighted in a blog post.
In August 2024, Flutterwave allowed online merchants in Nigeria to accept payments from American Express Card Members, including those with consumer, business, or corporate cards.
This service will soon be accessible to Flutterwave merchants in additional countries, including Tanzania, Rwanda, Ghana, and Uganda.
