Food delivery app Zomato has introduced a co-branded credit card, in association with Mastercard and RBL Bank.

The new offering is available in Edition and Edition Classic variants.

The basis edition charges annual membership of INR500 ($6.82) plus taxes while the premium edition charges INR3,000 ($40.94) in addition to taxes.

The aim is to issue Zomato users in India one million credit cards in the first two years.

The cardholders can gain cash back and airport lounge access.

Users of the card can also avail Zomato Gold membership and Zomato credits on all online and offline transactions.

RBL Bank head products, credit cards Utkarsh Saxena was quoted as saying by Livemint said: “At the end of the day you have to be present in the customer’s life cycle—especially wherever they make payments. Zomato automatically comes in to the picture—it is a high frequency usage platform.”

Mastercard senior vice president of Market Development Rajeev Kumar said: “With evolving lifestyles and preferences, an increasingly large number of Indian consumers are ordering food online. A co-brand card proposition has the potential to provide a significant value to consumers.”

In recent years, various online players have launched credit card offerings.

Amazon has partnered with Indian private sector lender ICICI Bank to launch its co-branded credit card.

Flipkart has also launched a credit card, in alliance with Axis Bank.
