Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS), in collaboration with e-transact, has developed a gh-link mobile payment system for all bank customers in Ghana.
GhIPSS chief executive Archie Hesse was quoted by Ghana Business News as saying that the new mobile payment system will be made available from 2014.
The gh-link platform interconnects all the banks and subsequently any service available on the electronic platform will be available to the banks.
Hesse told the news portal that the system has already been developed and is slated to be piloted early next year before it will go live.
The induction of gh-link mobile is expected to transform Ghana into an electronic payment society and make convenient payments and banking in the country.
GhIPSS has also started testing the gh-link hybrid Point of Sales (POS) terminal, which allows bank customers to use local ATM cards for shopping.
