Grupo Tortooga, a digital unit of Grupo Movil Mexico (GMM), and Canadian digital financial platform BlocPal have joined forces to launch the Tortooga digital wallet in Mexico.
The new wallet will be powered by the technology of BlocPal.

By GlobalDataThrough the wallet, 40 million users and 60,000 merchant partners of GMM in Mexico will be able to pay digitally for pre-paid airtime, mobile data as well as utility bills.
The new proposition will facilitate micropayments and money transfers in North America.
Currencies initially supported by the wallet are MXN, USD and CAD, among others.
Plans are on to eventually upgrade the offering with additional functionalities.
These include more deposit and withdrawal options along with support for digital currencies.
Commenting on the partnership, BlocPal CEO Nick Mellios said: “The partnership with Grupo Tortooga to serve Grupo Movil Mexico’s customers is a perfect fit with BlocPal’s vision to help bring financial power to everyone while building out support for the digital currency community.”
