HP has launched its HPS PowerCARD payment management software and hardware in Europe, Middle East and Africa. The card payment solution is already available in the Americas and Asia Pacific region and is aimed at banks, retailers and telecoms operators.
A modular system PowerCARD allows customers to select only the services they require, HP believe this will help them target both large and small businesses. The company aims to compete with established payment management systems as well as offering a low cost solution for those companies with fewer clients and resources.
The company, who already provides ATM and POS management systems for over 320 financial institutions in 70 countries, is looking to expand into payment management.
HP stated that PowerCARD payment software had been tested on 100 million accounts with processing cycles of 3,000 transactions per second for up to 5,000 concurrent users.
Ed Adshead-Grant, EMEA card and payments practice head, HP said "This is an extension of work we already do in Eastern Europe with HPS we’re taking it to a repeatable model where we can service more customers across more geographies… telco operators, banks, retailers and technology companies are all battling around, and partnering around to get the right ecosystem mix to be successful in the market, with PowerCard we can adjust all those different verticals in a much easier way than the bank-centric technology that goes back 20 or 30 years."
