British banking giant HSBC, in collaboration with Visa, has introduced a debit card for its customers in Bangladesh.

The new offering, HSBC Visa Debit Card, exhibits a brand new design with an interpretation of the HSBC lions.

Customers can use the card to pay for their purchases at the merchant outlets. Furthermore consumers can withdraw cash from all ATMs across the country.

Additionally, it is compatible with local National Payment Switch Bangladesh (NPSB) and Visa’s network coverage.

The card features an EMV microchip to authenticate the transactions as well as reduce fraudulent usage.

Commenting on the launch of the debit card, HSBC Bangladesh CEO Francois de Maricourt said: “As one of the largest and longest-serving foreign banks in Bangladesh, we are proud to be making strides and evolving our customer offering in the country – helping to make banking for our customers’ simpler, better and faster.”

The HSBC Visa Debit Card provides the customers’ access to more than 13,000 local Visa merchants for shopping, entertainment, dining and travel transactions.

HSBC also provides separate daily limits for cash withdrawal and POS transactions, according to the requirement.

The bank has also launched an international variation which can be used anywhere across the global Visa network. The international debit card will be issued to those customers who have a foreign currency account with HSBC Bangladesh.
