However, IDEX revealed that the two have been working together on a biometric card programme that is anticipated to obtain certification soon.
IDEX CEO Stan Swearingen said: “We are proud to have been selected by one of the largest smartcard manufacturers in the world and look forward to continue collaboration with a leader in authentication solutions to bring biometric payment cards to the mass market.
“This award by one of the world’s largest card manufacturers is a validation of our off-chip product design that enables high performance at a disruptive cost point.”

By GlobalDataLaunched recently, TrustedBio is designed to lower biometric smartcard cost.
The TrustedBio sensors are slated to enter mass production in the fourth quarter of this year.
The choice of IDEX by the card manufacturer is said to be the result of the former’s low power consumption, manufacturability, and cost.
Advanced security features also played an integral role in the selection, IDEX said.
The two parties plan to support mass market adoption of biometric payment cards.
Plans are on to launch a technology platform that will lower the cost of the design and production processes for these cards.
