French payment technology provider Ingenico Group has started exclusive negotiations for the merger of German payments firm BS PAYONE with Ingenico Retail assets in DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland).
The combined entity, if materialised, will be 52% owned by Ingenico Group. Existing shareholders of BS PAYONE shareholders will continue to hold the remaining 48% stake.
The merger would lead to the creation of a group, which will cater to all types of merchants in Germany and offer in-store and online services.
The companies plan to sign definitive agreements for the deal in the third quarter of this year.
BS PAYONE, owned by DSV, serves more than 250,000 merchants across various industries including small and medium-size businesses. The firm has a workforce of nearly 700 and has partnerships with multiple savings banks in Germany.
In a separate move, Ingenico Group collaborated with the House of Marketing spin-off BotBakery to launch a chatbot to process payments for Belgian news outlet Het Laatste Nieuws.
