Ingenico and Merchant Link have joined forces
to offer a point-to-point encryption and tokenisation solution,
designed to render card data unusable to potential
hackers.
Merchant Link has enhanced its existing TransactionVault
tokenisation technology by adding Ingenico’s On-Guard
point-to-point encryption (P2PE) solution.

The service aims to stop the
transmission and storage of plain-text cardholder data from the
merchant’s environment, rendering card data unreadable and unusable
to potential hackers.
“Experts agree the most effective way to
protect data and prevent attacks is to employ a layered security
solution,” said Tim Kinsella, EVP
for Sales and Marketing at Merchant Link.
“Our combined point-to-point encryption and
tokenization solution will protect cardholder data throughout the
entire transaction life cycle.”
The TransactionVault tokenisation technology
uses format-preserving tokens so that they fit into existing
reporting, receipts and databases.
