JCB International has extended its tie-up with integrated payments firm Planet, enabling the latter to serve as a JCB acquirer in European markets for both in-store and digital transactions.
This agreement covers JCB Contactless as well as J/Secure(TM) 2.0-enabled ecommerce, which is set to be rolled out early next year.
The extended partnership will allow JCB’s 140 million cardmembers to carry out travel-related and everyday spending on visiting Europe when travel curbs are scrapped.
Japan’s JCB first teamed up with Planet in 2003 and have since expanded their collaboration to several regions including in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
JCB International Sales and Marketing UK general manager Nick Fisher said: “As long-standing partners of Planet, we are honoured to be invited to join its new growth journey to strengthen Planet’s position as a competitive player in the European market.
“As Planet looks to grow its merchant base, it’s important that we ensure our partnership grows to offer our cardmembers even more opportunities to spend in Europe.”
