Hong Kong-based Joint Electronic Teller Services Limited (JETCO) has deployed Gemalto’s LinqUs Trusted Service Management (TSM) software platform for commercial rollout of mobile NFC payment in Hong Kong and Macau.
As part of the implementation, Gemalto will also support JETCO with consulting services on the platform setup as well as integration.
The TSM platform will allow JETCO to securely distribute and manage mobile payment services to their 30 member banks.
Additionally, the platform will comply with international interoperability standards such as Global Platform and will offer JETCO the flexibility to interact with secure elements in various form factors.
Gemalto said that the rollout of mobile NFC payment will allow end users to use their mobile phone to transact at participating merchants equipped with NFC-ready point-of-sales (POS) at more than 10,000 acceptance points.
JETCO deputy general manager, John Tsang, said: "Gemalto’s strong track record of NFC deployments in Asia leads to an in-depth understanding of both the telecommunications and banking sectors, giving JETCO’s banks a strong competitive edge in mobile contactless payments."
Gemalto president of Greater China and Korea, Suzanne Tong-Li, said: "The TSM will allow JETCO to play the role of trusted third party for NFC deployment and collaborate with all of Hong-Kong’s mobile operators in a secure manner."
