Swedish payments provider Klarna has extended its partnership with ACI Worldwide to expand its eCommerce footprint in Europe and the US.

Klarna will leverage ACI Worldwide’s UP eCommerce Payments platform to expand its reach to 10 new markets, including the UK and US.

The ACI solution will allow merchants to integrate Klarna’s payment products- Pay later and Slice it- into the checkout process.

Klarna’s payment products enables consumers decide when to pay for items once they have received their goods. The products accelerate the checkout process by requesting for consumers’ email address and postcode instead of their credit or debit card details at checkout.

ACI senior vice president Mike Braatz said: “Our UP eCommerce Payment solution’s open API makes it possible for developers to implement Klarna through the addition of just a few lines of code.

“Through the simplicity of our solution, we aim to support Klarna’s further growth across key European eCommerce markets, and increase its footprint in the highly competitive U.S. market – where customer experience is increasingly the differentiator.”

Klarna chief commercial officer Michael Rouse added: “We are delighted to deepen and extend our partnership with ACI, benefiting from the flexibility and globality of its unified eCommerce API, which allows for a seamless integration of all Klarna payment options into the checkout process.”
