The Ukraine’s largest mobile phone operator Kyivstar and Alfa-Bank, the largest private commercial bank in Russia, have formed a partnership in order to launch an NFC payment service from 2014.

The deal previews that the service will be available to Kyivstar subscribers who are clients of Alfa-Bank at the beginning of 2014 and NFC enabled SIM cards can be bought at the bank.

This last agreement follows a partnership formed between US-based mobile payment provider Fortumo and Kyivstar on 15 October 2013.

That partnership allowed 23m Kyivstar customers to make payments in games and application in Kyivstar’s app store without using a credit card.

Alfa-Bank has recently entered in a series of deals with Master Card. The last of these deals on 12 December 2013 saw the launch of a new service "Commission-Free Transfers" allowing card-to-card transfers free of charge through MasterCard’s payment system from 09 to 30 December 2013.
