Wirecard has signed an agreement to issue lastminute.com Visa cards.
Users can load the cards with multiple currencies, avoiding currency conversion fees.
The new Visa cards target travellers who will be able to make payments in the local currency at numerous acceptance points globally. The multi-currency cards can be reloaded quickly via the lastminute.com mobile app.
In the app, cardholders will also be able to manage their expenses, view transaction history, make wallet-to-wallet transfers and lock their cards.
Wirecard will be responsible for primary functions, including activation, of the lastminute.com Visa cards.
Wirecard head of product management sales travel Kathrin Klausa said: “As the global innovation driver for digital financial technology, it is essential to us to reduce barriers when paying electronically and digitally in a foreign currency.

lastminute.com Visa cards will allow cash withdrawal from Visa-branded ATMs. They can be used for both in-store and online purchases.
