Lighthouse Network, the company powering POS brands Harbortouch, Future POS, Restaurant Manager, and POSitouch, has acquired Shift4, a Nevada-based payment services and gateway provider, for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 1994 by the Oder family, Shift4 is the inventor of payment data tokenisation.

The firm has 11 patents for its proprietary payments technologies and processes more than $60bn annually. Together with Pennsylvania-based Lighthouse, the firm will process over $100bn in annual transactions.

Shift4 president and CTO J.D. Oder II said: “This acquisition combines the strengths of two significant and well-established organisations with complementary capabilities, fulfilling the notion that ‘one plus one’ can equal a much larger number than the math implies.”

Meanwhile, Lighthouse also announced that it will now operate under the Shift4 Payments brand.

Shift4 Payments (formerly Lighthouse Network) CEO Jared Isaacman said: “This acquisition is transformational for our organisation as it enables us to power our industry-leading POS brands with a best-in-class payments platform that is second to none in terms of security, reliability and functionality. But this story is not just about our Harbortouch, Future POS, Restaurant Manager and POSitouch brands, as we also aim to empower the over 300 existing Shift4 software integrations with game-changing benefits.”
