Japan-based LINE Pay, a mobile remittance and payment service, has partnered with Visa to launch a co-branded credit card optimised for mobile payments.
Customers use the LINE Pay-Visa Credit Card independently or link it to the LINE Pay account for both domestic and international transactions. It features Visa’s contactless payment capability.
Purchases made with the card in the first year will give customers 3% reward points.
Customers linking their card to LINE Pay will also be able to pay using their smartphones, without presenting a physical card.
The company noted that users of the newly launched co-branded credit card will be able to pay for their purchases using their credit line, without having to top up their LINE Pay Wallet balance.
LINE Pay is planning to offer additional benefits based on the cardholder’s transaction activity, including LINE Points in combination with another incentive programme called My Level.
