Linxens, a manufacture of microconnectors for smartcards, has collaborated with biometrics firm Fingerprint Cards to develop new contactless biometric payment cards.
Targeting card manufacturers, the partnership will see launch of fingerprint-on-card called Prelam by Linxens, while Fingerprints will offer its new T-Shape sensor module.
The Prelam technology is designed to integrate and connect the functional components of a contactless biometric card, and ensure that the fingerprint sensor is compatible with smartcard requirements.
Linxens senior vice-president of FTA business unit Thomas Hitzer said: “Linxens is proud to work with Fingerprints on this innovation which provides a fingerprint-on-card Prelam solution for card manufacturers.
“Our common solution will offer a contactless and battery-less experience.”
The firm is providing a low entry barrier option for card manufacturers by enabling conversion of Prelam into finished cards using standard smartcard machinery and processes.
Fingerprints senior vice-president of Business Line Smartcards Thomas Rex said: “Linxens is a leading provider in the smartcard arena and this partnership means that we will be advancing in this market together to offer a truly integrated and scalable solution for smart card manufacturers of next generation payment cards.”
