Global card issuing platform Marqeta has been selected by Mastercard to join its Fintech Express programme.
Mastercard and Marqeta say they will work together “to co-innovate in the field of banking technology in Europe and across the world”.
Collaborating in the Fintech Express programme will allow the two companies to work closely on future innovations, with an emphasis on expanding and launching more Fintech programmes together.
Joining the Mastercard Fintech Express programme will also give Marqeta the opportunity to engage with Mastercard’s extensive network thus helping it scale in Europe and across the globe.

The Mastercard Fintech Express Programme falls under the umbrella of Mastercard Accelerate – Mastercard’s overarching fintech platform that gives start-ups and emerging brands support and assistance for every stage of their growth and transformation, from market entry to global expansion.
Mastercard Accelerate is comprised of four main programmes: Fintech Express, Start Path, Engage and Developers.
Mastercard has also made a financial investment in Marqeta
With its open API, the Marqeta platform is designed for businesses who want a simple and tailored way of managing payment programs so that they can create world-class experiences and power new modes of commerce.
In Q4 2020, Marqeta and Mastercard announced the expansion of their strategic global partnership with the aim to expand into new geographies, open access to new products, and launch additional card programs together.
As part of this partnership, Mastercard has also made a financial investment in Marqeta.
