Mastercard and SoftBank Robotics have launched a humanoid robot at Pizza Hut’s SAFRA Punggol outlet in Singapore to deliver enhanced voice-assisted experience for both merchants and consumers.
This SoftBank Robotics’ robot will make ordering easy by providing personalised menu recommendations. It is also integrated with Mastercard’s Connected Device API to facilitate quick, simple yet secure transactions through Masterpass.
Masterpass can be used by pairing the account in the Pizza Hut Singapore mobile app with the robot. Linking of Masterpass and Connected Device API facilitates payments across multiple channels.
SoftBank Robotics chief business officer Kenichi Yoshida said: “We are thrilled to develop a new humanoid robot-based payment application with Mastercard, one of the world’s top payments technology companies.
“With the use of this application, we hope that customers will experience smooth ordering and payment.”
Mastercard also partnered Teksbotics, a robotics and artificial intelligence company, to link the robot’s voice-based, interface technologies with its payment services.
