Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB) has partnered with MasterCard to make online payments available to MCB MasterCard debit cardholders in Mauritius and internationally for the first time.
The move will be effective from February 2016, allowing any Mauritian with an MCB MasterCard debit card to shop online.
Till now, online shopping in the country was only possible with the help of credit cards.
To ensure security, the debit cards will be protected by MasterCard’s SecureCode technology.
MCB head of cards Binesh Mangar said: "With this announcement, MCB continues its series of firsts, following the introduction of the country’s first ATM, the first payment cards and Juice, the first mobile banking app in Mauritius."
