Middle East Payment Services (MEPS) has partnered with bus firm Ahmad Aljogel Transportation Company and MasterCard on to provide students with transit cards.

Students of Jordan’s Al-Hashimiyah University will be provided with MasterCard prepaid contactless cards in order to settle their bus fares.
Abdul Malek Jaber, chairman at MEPS, said: "We are expecting 15,000 students from Al-Hashimiyah University to join the transportation program during the first year, and we have already teamed up with MasterCard to provide the students with an even faster payment method "Tap and Go".
"We are confident that this partnership with Ahmad Aljogel Transportation Company will bring us one step closer to fulfilling our goal and will yield positive results for all involved parties."
MEPS will install point-of-sale (POS) machines on all buses included in the program, that is being rolled out to 54 buses during its first phase.
The aim is to gradually include other Jordanian universities over the next few years.
Basel El Tell, market manager, Levant at MasterCard said: "We are excited to offer a new, more efficient way for students in Jordan to pay their bus fare using MasterCard contactless prepaid cards in collaboration with MEPS."
El Tell also added: "MasterCard contactless technology will allow students to conduct this everyday transaction quickly and efficiently with just a tap of their card, saving them time and the hassle of fumbling with cash."
