British startup Mondo Bank has called for participants in its debut hackathon, centred on an early iteration of its Application Programming Interface (API).
Lasting two days, each team will be given a fully functional prototype Mondo card, the prototype mobile application and access to the bank’s API. It begins on the morning of Saturday 19th and finishes with presentations the following afternoon.
Mondo CEO Tom Blomfield said: "As a software developer, I’ve always wanted to build apps on top of my bank account, which is why I’m excited to announce our first ever hackathon. Using Mondo’s API, developers will be able to build apps that respond to card payments in real-time. We’re really excited to see the kinds of thing that developers will be building on our platform. Integrations with Foursquare, Yelp or Google Places – the possibilities are breathtaking."
Established by a team formerly of another challenger bank, Starling, Mondo is building its software from scratch to set up a mobile-only bank and is looking to launch next year.
