Banco de Moçambique, the central bank of Mozambique, has selected Euronet USA in a bid to upgrade its national payment network.
The solution offered by Euronet will facilitate a range of services. These include transaction processing, connections to major card associations, ATM and POS device driving, as well as card issuing.
At the same time, it will support mobile recharge, bill payments, and digital wallets.
Commenting on the latest partnership, Banco de Moçambique director of legal affairs office Luisa Navele said: “The new solution offered by Euronet meets the current market needs. It offers the services currently provided by SIMO network and other new features.
“It is our belief that today starts a new journey towards the unification of all e-payment platforms in Mozambique. This goal can only be reached with the deep involvement of all credit institutions and financial companies, SIMO and our partner, Euronet.”
The new technology will be provided through joint-stock company Sociedade Interbancária de Moçambique (SIMO).
Euronet Worldwide vice president and Euronet Software Solutions managing director Cindy Ashcraft said: “We are extremely honoured to grow our strong relationship with the country of Mozambique, by providing advanced and scalable products and services that we deploy successfully around the world.”
