Canada’s National Bank has introduced a mobile point-of-sale solution for its SME clients called National Bank Easy Pay.

The bank partnered with Global Payments to launch the new proposition, which is powered by fintech firm Mobeewave.

Easy Pay will enable the bank’s SME clients to accept payments using a compatible smartphone, thereby eliminating the need of other peripherals.

Payments can be made by using a contactless credit card or through digital wallets such as Samsung Pay, Google Pay and Apple Pay.

The new solution utilises near-field communication (NFC) technology to encrypt and secure personal user information while carrying out the payment process. As an additional security layer, no sensitive information is stored on the merchant’s device.

National Bank Digital Channels senior vice-president Lionel Pimpin said: “We’re very proud to be the first Canadian financial institution to offer this convenient, quick and secure mobile point-of-sale solution to Canadian SME owners.

“By collaborating with Montreal fintech Mobeewave and our long-standing partner Global Payments, we’re able to quickly roll out this innovative project for our clients.”
