Nedbank Swaziland is reportedly planning to roll out its mobile point-of-sale (PoS) technology known as PocketPOS, as part of its plan to offer a better payment solution to merchants in the country.
The planned launch is part of its strategy to offer convenience, mobility, security and ease of access to banking, anytime, anywhere.
Nedbank Swaziland marketing consultant Veli Dlamini was quoted by APA news as saying that the PocketPOS is a payment solution for small to medium-sized businesses that processes credit and debit card transactions by using a secure card reader connected to a device using Bluetooth.
In order to avail the new service, the user will have to open a merchant account with Nedbank and the proceeds from transactions will be transferred into any bank account of the user’s choice.
Dlamini further explained that the new PocketPOS has been designed to accept ‘Chip and PIN’ card transactions securely.
The bank said that PocketPOS is ideal for any business that wants to accept card payments securely without access to a fixed data or telephone line or where low frequency of card acceptance does not require the higher rental cost of a traditional POS device.
