Buoyed by the success of 2013, Netopia mobilPay expect Romanian online card payments to rise a further 20% in 2014.
The company claims it accounts for a third of all online card transactions in Romania.

Projections for the entire online payment market in Romania for 2014 by Netopia mobilPay representatives stand at 8.5m card transactions, worth between 350m ($476m) and 370m.
Antonio Eram, CEO of Netopia mobilPay, said: "During last year, we processed record online payments, some of which exceeded EUR 7,000 for a single transaction, which proves Romanians have understood that online payments are safe, no matter the [size of the] amount paid."
Romanian online and mobile payment facilitators, Netopia mobilPay has processed over 2.2m online card transactions worth 76m in 2013.
This was the first year that the company reported an increase in the number of first time online payment users.
There was also an increase of 700 new traders offering online payment through Netopia mobilPay services from sectors such as tourism, services and utilities.
According to the company Romania’s first mobile payment app was launched by Netopia mobilPay last year, in partnership with MasterCard Romania, along with the first mobile payment service for hotels, cafes, restaurants and retail in partnership Business Review Romania.
