UAE-based card payments operator Network International has added Google Pay acceptance at its merchant partner outlets across the country.
Cardholders can link their chip and PIN or magnetic stripe credit or debit cards with the service to carry out payments. It leverages near field communication (NFC) to transmit card details and replaces the need for authentication via chip and pin.
Google pay can be used for online, in-app and in-store transactions.
The latest move by UAE Network International will enable customers to use the Android-based payment solution at any of its NFC-equipped merchants.
The card payments operator said that the service protects payment details and allows easy transfer of money and store tickets, as well as redemption of rewards in the form of cash.
Network International group head of product & innovation Paul Clarke said: “Digital mobile wallets are increasingly becoming one of the most rapidly growing payment methods across the world, and as a market leader in end-to-end payment solutions, we are delighted to enable acceptance of Google Pay in the UAE.
