Italian paytech firm Nexi has expanded its partnership with Swedish buy now, pay later (BNPL) player Klarna, offering Nexi’s merchant customers across Europe the capability to integrate Klarna’s payment methods.
This expansion follows a pilot launch in the Nordics, where Nexi’s merchant customers witnessed an average increase in conversion rates, the company said.
The partnership will see Klarna’s payment options automatically included as a default in Nexi’s checkout offerings.
It extends the reach of the service to include Nexi’s merchant base in markets such as Poland and Italy.
Nexi offers payment solutions including online commerce, account-to-account transactions, mobile wallets, and traditional payment cards for banks, merchants and customers.
Nexi Group merchant services head Roberto Catanzaro said: “We facilitate fast checkout solutions online, offering all the payment methods that are in demand by local consumers. Klarna offers our merchant customers and their shoppers more choice and added convenience, boosting the conversion rates for merchants and consequently their revenue growth.”
Klarna chief commercial officer David Sykes added: “We’re really excited to extend this partnership, automatically enabling Klarna for thousands more merchants across Europe, and making Klarna available for everyone, everywhere. With their extensive reach among eCommerce merchants across Europe, Nexi is a great distribution partner for us. This partnership is a win-win for all, merchants and consumers alike.”
Recently, Nexi Germany signed a contract with the European Payments Initiative (EPI) to integrate the Wero mobile payment system.
It has now secured the licence to connect merchants and service providers for Wero acceptance.
Earlier this month, Klarna forged an alliance with J.P. Morgan Payments to offer its BNPL services.
