Nepal-based NMB Bank has secured credit card processing deal with ElectraCard Services (ECS), a subsidiary of Opus Software Solutions, for its credit and debit cards.
As part of the deal, ECS will provide its PCI DSS certified data centre and the EMV compliant card management systems for processing the cards.
The EMV system will allow bank to manage all major card networks including Visa, SCT and NPN.
Nepalese IT systems integrator, Imart, helped NMB select the ECS platform. It will also help the bank to expand its credit and debit card base.
NMB Bank CEO, Upendra Poudyal, said they chose ECS due to its global leadership, unparalleled deployment experience and installed base in Nepal.
"ECS will provide us with a solid platform to manage our growth efficiently. The platform will help us quickly and cost-effectively deliver new products and services as we grow and serve our customers in Nepal," Poudyal added.
ECS CEO, Ramesh Mengawade, said with the addition of NMB Bank, the electra platform becomes the foremost platform on which card issuance is carried out in Nepal, with a 75% market share.
NMB Bank joins nine other Nepalese banks that are currently using the ECS payment platform.
