Under the initiative, customers using credit cards to book tickets will need to carry the same card with them at check-in.

A passenger will be required to carry necessary authorisation from the person named on the card, if the booking has been done by a third-party card and the cardholder is absent.

The airline’s staff will conduct random checks to ensure the legitimacy of the booking.

Oman Air general manager marketing Mohammed Al Shikely said: "The steps we are taking under this new initiative are designed to both identify incidences of fraud and deter fraudsters from continuing their criminal acts.

"We would like to thank our customers in advance for their cooperation with, and support for this vital initiative."
