Oney Bank, part of retail group Auchan, has teamed up with payments firm Wirecard to deploy the Well.com app in Romania that enables biometric payment.
The mobile app can be accessed by users of Android as well as iOS operating systems.

Oney Bank Romania director general Jean-Michel Goncalves said: “Payment methods are continuously improving and we would like Romanian customers to experience the latest technologies.
“One step in doing so is Well.com, an innovative solution that leverages the expertise of Wirecard in the area of digital payments.”
With the app, users can make payments through fingerprint authentication or QR code.
Wirecard will be responsible for integrating the wallet in the app.
Moreover, the company will facilitate card registration and activation through 3D Secure and process the transactions.
Though currently available in Romania, plans are on for a broader rollout of the app to Hungary, Poland and Ukraine.
The app is presently supported at more than 30 Auchan stores across Romania.
