PayPal Here, a digital payments platform provider, has launched two new card readers to enable fast and secure card swipe as well as chip and tap payments.
The firm designed its new Chip and Swipe reader and Chip and Tap reader to provide convenient and portable solutions for small business owners.
While both the devices can be used for easy chip card and card swipe transactions, the Chip and Tap reader also accepts contactless payments by various channels such as Apple, Google or Samsung Pay and any NFC-enabled devices or payment cards.
The devices can be connected to mobiles through Bluetooth and come with a rechargeable battery.
A statement by PayPal in-store head Chris Gardner read: “We also understand the many challenges small businesses face – including protection from fraudulent transactions and the costs of equipment to run their business – and constantly work to develop products and services that allow them to thrive in an increasingly competitive environment.
“By introducing two new, affordable EMV-compliant chip card readers, we are doing everything possible to make accepting card payments easier and more secure.”
PayPal Here also updated its SDK to support the new devices and to facilitate easy integration of EMV-compliant credit card processing into other mobile POS platforms.
