Nigerian payment firm Paystack has joined forces with Truecaller to enable merchants in Africa offer secure online payments.

Under the partnership, Paystack will use Truecaller’s mobile identity offering Truecaller SDK to authenticate payments on its platform.

The collaboration, Truecaller said, will benefit those unregistered businesses who were previously required to register with regulatory organisations to accept payments via Paystack.

“The Paystack-Truecaller partnership means that in addition to Paystack’s proprietary merchant risk assessment checks, merchants can now verify their mobile identity via Truecaller. Integrating Truecaller SDK as a verification mechanism strengthens the Paystack platform’s merchant verification process and also makes it possible to open up Paystack to the millions of unregistered businesses who were previously unable to accept online payments with Paystack,” Truecaller said in a blog post.

Paystack already supports the ability to verify the Bank Verification Number (BVN), bank account details, and card details of customers.
