The Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SCC) has introduced new payment security tool for small merchants to address growing security threats.
The new solution, called Data Security Essentials Evaluation Tool, features 15 new categories to simplify compliance process of the small merchants.
It is designed to enable the businesses to focus on basic security practices, which are often ignored in order to comply with the complicated PCI Data Security Standard requirements.
PCI Security Standards Council chief technology officer Troy Leach said: “This new evaluation tool provides small businesses with awareness of the most common, critical risks for their environments and the proper resources to address potential threats.”
Payment card industry data security standard company SecurityMetrics has added the new payment security tool into its FastPass to fulfil all compliance requirements.
SecurityMetrics FastPass helps the merchants to complete compliance requirements including submission of standard PCI DSS questionnaires.
SecurityMetrics director of product management Robert Reid said: “When combined with the personalised scoping accuracy of SecurityMetrics FastPass, it extends the simplicity of discovering the most accurate path for securing a merchant’s credit card environment.
“All of this is incorporated in our simple, easy-to-use online tool.”
Established in 2006, the PCI SSC is a cross-industry effort to enhance payment security by offering data security standards and programmes.
These standards are designed to enable the businesses to identify and prevent fraudulent attacks and data breaches.
