Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) has now enabled its debit cardholders to use their cards for secure online purchases.
To ensure the maximum security and customer protection, the bank allows online purchases and payments with debit cards though 3D secure enabled portals only.

The lender provides a Visa Electron card to all customers, with Tamayuz members receiving the Platinum MasterCard debit card, and private banking customers receiving the World MasterCard debit card.
QIB general manager for personal banking group D Anand said: “As a leading card issuer in Qatar, we are constantly looking for ways to enhance our products to provide new and unique services.
“Being able to use their QIB debit cards online gives our customers more options for managing their purchases and payments – and the peace of mind that their transactions are always secure.
“On the subject of security, all our customers should be also aware that QIB will never ask them to reply in an email with any personal information such as their ID number, Debit card and account details or any kind of passwords and PINs.”
The bank has been offering secure online card payments using QIB credit cards since November 2014. Now the facility has been extended to its debit cardholders.
