Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB) has introduced contactless payment service across all credit and debit cards.

The new contactless service enables the bank’s cardholders to use their cards without inserting them into multiple payment devices such as points of sale (PoS).

QIIB chief of business development Omar Abdulaziz Al Meer said: “We are delighted to be able to keep up with the latest global technologies in the banking sector. We are pleased to be the first Islamic bank in Qatar to launch this service.”

Apart from easy to use, the new contactless payments service for cards is said to be secure as it complies with the International Security Standards for payment processing.

Al-Meer added: “This year, QIIB was awarded the highest certificate in the protection of Banking Cards Data (PCI-DSS), for the fourth consecutive year. This certificate is awarded to institutions that achieve the best security standards. Thus, launching the Contactless service is the natural progression of QIIB to offer the best in class payment services to our Customers”.

The bank said that going forward all its cards to be issued or renewed will be contactless enabled.

“The introduction of the new service to QIIB Cards is a catalyst in delivering the bank’s vision for providing innovative products and services to its valued customers.” Al-Meer concluded.

Very recently, the bank in collaboration with Mastercard and Visa launched two separate 2019 edition of its annual summer campaign.
