Rogers Communications, a Canadian media and communications company, has received approval from Canada’s financial services regulator to launch a credit card.

Canada’s Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions issued an order authorizing Rogers to begin offering card services.

David Robinson, vice-president of emerging business, Rogers Communications, said: "Our credit card business will allow us to deliver a valuable offering to our customers across the country and we are thrilled to have completed this final step in the application process."

Robinson continued "Within the next year, our customers will be able to participate in our credit card program that will give them the opportunity to accelerate the rate at which they earn rewards in the Rogers First Rewards program."

Rogers Communications provides voice and data communications services, cable television, high speed internet services and telephone services. Rogers Communications is also engaged in television, and radio broadcasting and several publications.
